Eligibility for Dependent Visas in Dubai
A dependent visa means a visa for members of the family who are dependent on you. The following people fall under the category of dependent visa eligibility:
- Spouse
- Children
- Parents
- Parents-in-law
You can sponsor the dependent visa for your family members in Dubai if you fulfil the following conditions:
- If the sponsor is a male, his salary must be at least AED 4000. The salary be AED 3000, but he must have accommodation in the UAE.

- If the sponsor is a female, her salary must be at least AED 10,000. The salary can be AED 8000, but she must have accommodation in the UAE.
- The accommodation must be at least one-bedroom if dependents are only spouse and kids; but if dependents include parents or parents-in-law, you must have at least a two-bedroom house.
- If you sponsor the children, you must get the attestation from relevant authorities in UAE and your own country on their birth certificates. The son can be less than 18 years old; you can sponsor a son if he is less than 21 and still studying. You can sponsor a daughter up to any age, provided she is unmarried.
- To sponsor your spouse’s stay in the UAE, get your marriage certificate attested by the UAE and your country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- To sponsor your parents’ stay in UAE, your minimum salary must be AED 20,000.
A woman can also sponsor her spouse and kids to stay in UAE, but she needs to meet one additional condition. She is eligible only if she is a teacher, nurse, engineer, doctor, or any other worker in the healthcare sector. Also, you need to get permission from the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD). If you are a single mother, you can get a dependent visa for your child.
Documentation for Dependent Visas in Abu Dhabi
If you meet all the above conditions, you can sponsor your dependents’ visas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and all other Emirates of the UAE. During the application process, you must provide the following documents:
- The dependent’s passport with at least six months of validity
- Sponsor’s passport copy
- Your Emirates ID and residence visa
- Copy of the current tenancy contract, lease agreement, or ownership certificate
- Utility bills to show proof of your domicile
- Copy of the work contract of the person whose dependents’ visas are being processed
- Marriage certificate
- Children’s birth certificates
- Salary certificate or copy of monthly salary
- Photographs of all family members who will be residing in UAE with the entire faces on a white background
- Medical test results or clearance documents for all the dependents from a government-approved healthcare center.

The following are some of the exceptional cases you must be aware of:
- For a daughter above 18, you must submit a testifying statement on her being unmarried. In the case of a son above 24 years of age, he must enrol in a UAE college or university.
- If the child is below 18 years old, a copy of the spouse’s passport is essential, with a validity of at least six months. In the case of a mother sponsoring a dependent child below 18 years, you must also submit the no-objection certificate from the child’s father.
- To sponsor your parents’ stay, you must provide your birth certificate and proof of your parents’ dependency on you. If they are divorced, or one has died, and you want a dependent visa for only one parent, you must also submit the reason for sponsoring only one parent. Also, you need to submit a deposit amount for each parent.
- Legal adoption papers are essential for obtaining dependent visas for adopted children.
- For stepchildren’s dependent visas, you must submit a non-objection certificate from the biological parent.
- You can also sponsor your parents-in-law’s stay in UAE by submitting your marriage certificate and your spouse’s birth certificate.

Dubai Dependent Visa Application Procedure
